Water Tunnel Flow Visualization of Prolate Spheroid
^ This picture was taken in the water tunnel at SDSU. The flow is from left to right at about 10 cm/sec and the angle of attack is 20 deg. The dye is injected through tubing routed through the model. The dye is a mixture of paint, thickener and alcohol. A video is available. Compare this to Computed result. A flow visualization of the 1-2 prolate spheroid is also available with movies. Water Tunnel at SDSU
The water tunnel is an open top type. It was built by Flometrics. The turbulence and velocity variations are less than 2%, as measured by a Laser Doppler Anemometer. |
