Hydrogen Bubble Method^ The fully turbulent flow in a pipe visualized using the hydrogen bubble method. The flow is from left to right. Electricity is pulsed in the wire which causes the water to dissociate and generate hydrogen bubbles. Another electrode generates oxygen elsewhere in the system. Salt is added to the water to make it conductive. This experiment was done in order to show the effectiveness of a Vortab flow conditioner used upstream of flowmeters to reduce errors in flow measurements. A mpeg video is available. ( |
